Mozart and Haydn, the two towering Viennese figures of the late 18th Century, were close friends, admirers of each other's work and they even played string quartets together! Inspired by Wells Cathedral School A level musicians' study of the symphony, the performers have paired together Mozart's turbulent 40th Symphony in G minor with Haydn's grand and exuberant final symphony No.104 in D major London. The concert follows a day of exploration for Wells Cathedral School pupils and, with the help of musicologists and performers, they will introduce you to the pieces and the performance practices of the time, before Wells Cathedral School Symphony Orchestra treats you to a performance of these two symphonic gems.
